Lord of the Rings: Strategy Battle Games

In June 2008, a group of us from Elite Hobbie's Garrison City Gamers made a road trip to Baltimore, MD to participate in GW's Games Day event.

It was a fantastic experience and the only official GW event I've attended so far.  We had one of our great players, John H., enter in the Golden Demon contest as well as taking First Place in the Lord of the Rings Strategy Battle Game events.

My only disappointment with the entire thing was that GW was giving very little love to the SBG system at this point in time and offered only a single First Place for the entire event.  Their other game systems had 1st through 3rd for victory points as well as several secondary awards.  My "Forces of Light" army (Saruman the White, Thranduil and a force of Wood Elves) scored second place for me in victory points but I could only come home with the congratulations of my club mates.

Lothlorien and Thranduil's Halls vs. a force of Orcs, Cave Trolls and Spiders from deep in Mirkwood.
